Life Masks

Phoebe Age 3
Simon Age 10

Simon Age 5

Phoebe and Simon at an older age as in "The Present".

Process

Plaster gauze bandage strips.
Apply over lightly vaselined face.
Sit for 20 minutes and enjoy the meditation and warmth.

When the face cast is pulled off, you can vaseline the inside of the cast and pour plaster inside.

This dries and you peel the bandages off, and, voila, a life cast.

Over these life casts in plaster one can sculpt and make other masks
or create a leather mask likeness of the self
or just hang it on the wall for special effects.

Neoprene finished mask before paint.

The Neoprene process involves creatig a mold of the sculpt in plaster.  Then mixing two grades of Neoprene to be poured into the mold. This sits for approximately 1 hour 30 minutes. Excess is poured back into the bucket for future masks. Slip then drys for 24 hours, is pealed out and let to air cure for another 24 hours (it shrinks some also), and then is ready to receive paint and accoutrements.

Workshops available.
